MANILA - Kapamilya talents Kris Aquino and Kim Chiu announced on Monday that ABS-CBN will release special t-shirts to raise funds for victims of super typhoon "Yolanda" (international name Haiyan).
Proceeds from the "Tulong Na, Tabang Na" t-shirts will benefit victims of "Yolanda," particularly in eastern Visayas.
"The shirt is called 'Tulong Na, Tabang Na,'" said Aquino, who noted that "tabang" means "to help."
"All of us kasi we want to do our share, to help and to reach out. These shirts will be sold at P250 each and ang Sagip Kapamilya at ang ABS-CBN will be handling all the proceeds, sa lahat," she added.
Aquino went on to note how the Philippines has not been spared by calamities.
"Kasi parang hindi na tayo tinigilan this last, the last six months. Parang, ano ba? It started with Zamboanga. After Zamboanga, nandiyan 'yung nangyari sa Cebu at sa Bohol, at ang buong Visayas naman. Let's not forget na pati Palawan affected," she said.
"So these shirts, parang symbolism din ito na we are taking part in the effort to help and to reach out. Parang tayo here who lived in Luzon, parang we are spared, parang ang pinaka-worst na pinagdaanan natin ay habagat. Hindi natin pinagdaanan 'yung lindol na pinagdaanan nila, or now the storm.
"So since ini-spare tayo ni God, parang tapikin tayo ni God na, 'oy, share naman kayo, ha?' Especially those who have something to share."
ABS-CBN's "Tulong Na, Tabang Na" t-shirts will go on sale within the week. These will also be made available online.
Aside from the shirts, ABS-CBN is also gearing up for a big concert, with proceeds from the show to go to victims of super typhoon "Yolanda," Aquino said.
"Doon natin mararamdaman also na na-entertain na tayo, nakatulong pa tayo. So tulong na, tabang na. It's up to us. Of course, sobrang grateful tayo dahil ang daming countries din worldwide that are extending help to the Philippines," she said.
